Heidi Hats

For a long time I’ve been looking for a Nepal style ear flap hat and finally I found one.
This King Cole Heidi Hat is just what I was looking for! Very easy knitting pattern, chunky wool and big needles mean that a hat can be produced in a couple of hours. Or an episode of Downton Abbey and Homeland on catchup tv. Perfect!
As for sewing in ends and making the plaits, well, that will have to wait…wish I could just sit and finish off completely instead of moving on to the next hat. Grr.

This first hat was made in King Cole Merino Blend wool in black and cream. The ear flaps were too short – I left out a few rows by accident. I crocheted round the edges instead of blanket stitch

To compensate for the ear flap error this hat is for the larger eared among us! In two shades of blue and finishing off the ball of cream.

Really pleased with this one so far. I’m using King Cole Magnum lightweight chunky multi wool. It has shades of black grey and cream.
