Pink fever has come to my city of Belfast this weekend with the arrival of the Giro d’Italia cycling race. People, public places and shops have really gone to town embracing all things pink.
My local yarn shop, the Textile Studio, celebrated it’s very first birthday last weekend, with a crocheted cake, and a pink bicycle which we were all encourage to have a go at yarn bombing. I made a cover for a pedal. In pink of course! I’ve always wanted to have a go at yarn bombing, even the name sounds a bit subversive.
(I hadn’t planned on coordinating quite so well for the photo.)
This is our very beautiful city hall which looks well in pink.
It’s so great having something so positive about our city being watched by around 775m people over the world. Northern Ireland has had more than enough bad press, with good reason, all my life, this is wonderful to be part of, despite the traffic disruption and the rain!
